Performances and Exhibitions

June, 2005: Urban Arts Festival, Downtown Tacoma. Sixteen models grace the stage inside Rampart and make their way outside to parade down Broadway, ending in a living room waiting for them in the sunshine.

September, 2005 Tacoma Rising Art Show, Downtown Tacoma. Six paintings and four hooded sweatshirts all created from recycled materials are hung among Tacoma’s up and coming artists.

November, 2005: Hair Lounge Style Show @ Indochine Restaurant, downtown Tacoma.

January, 2006: Free Tacoma Project Art/Rock show @ the Old Longshoremen’s Hall, Downtown Tacoma. A forest path is projected behind the stage while 12 models crawl from the leafy depths to offer fairy dust on an altar of rhythm. A yeti accepts their sacrifice and creates music that sends the nymphs into a frenzy of tribal inspired dancing.

May, 2006: The Hundredth Monkey May Party, @ The Old Longshoremen’s Hall, Downtown Tacoma. Backed by the music of Gypsy Jazz band, Dolce Ambiance. Dancing their way into the audience and with the help of a fortuneteller, gypsies help a young man find his true soul.

June, 2006: Urban Arts Festival, Downtown Tacoma. The toy box is overturned and a hodgepodge group of windup dolls and toy soldiers find themselves entranced by the music of Tacoma local band, Umber Sleeping.

July, 2006-October, 2006 Exhibition, Downtown Tacoma. Six mannequins wearing the costumes from the May 2006 Gypsy show are displayed in the windows of an abandoned retail location near the University of Washington Tacoma Campus on Pacific Avenue.

November, 2006: Tacoma Arts Community 1st anniversary party, Downtown Tacoma. Entitled “Thresholds”, Daniel includes poetic text with live music by Jason Heminger, and a dance solo by Joel Myers. Death comes for an old soldier, who is survived by a bewildered son. An angel takes pity on him and offers a unique choice.

November, 2006: Tacoma Indie Fashion Show: House of Kubla Khan @ Indochine Restaurant, downtown Tacoma.

November, 2006: Kultue Lab #1: Merlino Art Center, Corner of 6th and Fawcett, Downtown Tacoma. “Death of a Crow” art installation, Daniel illustrates the many ways once could kick the bucket using simple household items. A study in creative destruction.

December, 2006: “The Cure” A Cancer Benefit Album, CD release party: The Soma Building, Downtown Tacoma. Aaron Spiro and his five-piece band are outfitted head to toe by Daniel for their performance of songs from the album co-authored by Blue.

December, 2006: Kulture Lab #2: Merlino Art Center, Corner of 6th and Fawcett, Downtown Tacoma. Four Mannequins hang in a unique fusion of fashion and glass art by Tacoma Local glassblower Oliver Doriss. DOTAC = Daniel, Oliver, Tacoma.

March, 2007: 253Heart Party: The Warehouse, Downtown Tacoma. A new symbol is unleashed upon the south sound. The phone prefix for Tacoma and the surrounding area is wrapped into the shape of a heart and distributed on clothing. A massive “photo shoot dance party” is thrown to hail the new symbol, with performances by Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and Tacoma Local bands, “The Drug Purse”, and Paris Spleen.

April, 2007: The Farmers Market Walking Poem, From So. 9th to So. 13th on Broadway, downtown Tacoma. Twenty banners are hung over the farmers market, each holding a unique image and line of a walk able poem about connecting the city to the surrounding farms. Hangs until May, 2008.

May, 2007: Ok Tacoma, poem is filmed and posted on exit133.com and several other web sites, featuring Daniel reading an original poem about loving where you live.

June, 2007: Third Annual Urban Arts Festival, Fireman’s Park, Downtown Tacoma. Eighteen models display the clothing of Daniel Blue and Lisa Frichante as they coax the audience into a midday dance party. Every body dances and the sun shines again. Daniel, hiding behind an owl mask sings three original songs over dance music scored by Paul Daly.

July 2007: Kulture Lab Birthday Bash @ Tempest Lounge, Upper Tacoma. Strip Bicycle Limbo Fashion Show. A competitive romp under the bar, featuring bike-wear for all styles of riding. The models get naked, the crowd goes wild.

July, 2007: Epiphanies, Paintings by Daniel Blue @ Mad Hat Tea Company, Commerce St., Downtown Tacoma. Fifteen paintings in a series inspired by sudden intuitive perceptions hang till sold at Mad Hat Tea Co.
